Our suppliers employ over 250 hardwood artisans whose skill and experience allow us to provide you with a natural product with the highest standards.
Our suppliers produce a wide spread of superior quality wooden floorings in both South American and European hardwoods for home interiors, offices and public areas. In our industrial plants in The Netherlands, Paraguay and Bolivia (South America) high quality is achieved thanks to the strict production standards and tried and true European technology.
We care about the natural environment, and therefore ensure that our suppliers preserve the existing forests with sustainability projects in Bolivia and participate in several reforestation projects in Paraguay. Our exotic species are sourced from within 80,000 hectares of forest in Bolivia, where a sustainability project has been developed and awarded with the FSC Certification. This guarantees the maintainability of health and integrity of forest eco-systems. Due to the successful stewardship of their own property, our suppliers were commissioned in January 2005 by the Bolivian Government to initiate FSC certifications and management of 120,000 hectares of State owned forest. This has enabled them to grow and meet the demand for the highly sought after Bolivian hardwoods.
Producing within the strict environmental and socio economic standards set forth by the Forest Stewardship Council,
Floorzone UK Ltd is committed to preserve South America’s rainforest and is dedicated to sustainable forestry practices.
The benefit of plantation ownership is our control over the forest management. Our suppliers embrace the following key principles:
Ecological balance
They maintain the habits of all the native plants and animal species. We do not use chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
No clear cutting
Trees within the forest should be of various ages. Openings created by cutting are not to be larger than necessary to meet the biological requirements of the non-harvested trees.
Soil Conservation
Conventional forest management techniques, such as clear-cutting, destroy soil organisms that are necessary for forest health. The heavy machinery characteristics of industrial logging often causes soil compaction, erosion and extensive damage to residual vegetation. Our cutting is conducted with light, small equipment ; road building is mminimized. No cutting occurs on steep erosion-prone slopes.
Sustained yield
The amount of timber removed from a given area must not exceed the amount that will grow in the cutting interval or rotation.
Social responsibility
We are dedicated to the preservation of not only the forests, but also the people. Our suppliers employ local workers, subsequently contributing to their economy, improve the living conditions in the local areas and aid in social amenities such as school and churches.
Recently, our suppliers initiated the process of certification as a chain-of-custody company with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
